It makes me wonder if BMW are constantly cocking things up or are they more upfront about their problems .

Re: Tirol locks out loud motorbikes

Austria has a history of using fines , I've had a speeding ticket there (in the car, issued by the regional government) which they pursued via DVLA information to me in the UK, and I seem to recall that they were issuing loads of fines to German registered vehicle's which caused a incident. I think ...

Re: YouTube

Had a quick look at the end of the final drive vid, and a few points! Preload on a taper roller bearing type FD should be 1 thou, not 0.1 of a mm which is four thou, the large bearing should be Loctited in place, and every case I have seen has has a gasket under the cover. And he did not detail how...

Re: Tirol locks out loud motorbikes

Admittedly not a immediate issue for us but a worrying trend.

How the hell will I know if a pre euro bike like my airhead is quiet enough.

Re: Left cylinder smoking on my 1980 R65

Cheers Rob, I was going on experience with cars, it's nearly 40 years since I stripped a airhead head due to accident damage and my memory isn't as good as I wish !
So would that indicate guide wear ?

Re: Left cylinder smoking on my 1980 R65

It’s the decelerate bit that gets me !?
That's the bit that makes me think valve stem seal, vacuum on overrun pulling oil into combustion chamber.

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the forum,

I doubt if any harm has been done if it is low mileage, but I would get it into a well regarded indi BMW workshop for a service and a once over, for safety and peace of mind.

Re: Latest Covid 19 News for Motorcyclists in England

Are you saying that there is a flu epidemic as well ? I'm a bit confused, if it's not covid or covid related deaths, what's causing all the extra non confirmed covid deaths above what we have had in previous years ?
