Re: Northern Meet Sweepstake

Meigle's a nice run for me if I take the scenic route, so I'm up for a meet there as soon as we can agree it's "safe" - or within the guidance given by the authorities. And, more importantly for me, with suitable toilet arrangements. I've taken to carrying hand sanitiser gel in case the best option ...

Re: Getting out there...

I can hear the midges smacking their “lips” from here. Mind you I ‘ll take them over sandflies or the jolly mosquitoes in Cooper Creek any day. Lovely scenery. Haven’t ridden in Scotland since 1979. John John, We'll try to arrange a free pass on the midges ! Please be assured you will be wel...

Re: Northern Meet Sweepstake

. So, Montrose almost certainly OUT, Hawick probably out (although I may have to force myself to have a ride through there to check it out for myself  ). House of Bruar on the 9th of August seems like a real possibility, so I hope as many forum members as possible will have it in their diari...

. The Beach Cafe Montrose is open - I was there for a coffee today : 20200709_143629.jpg The cafe was open only for takeaway food, drinks & ice cream. It will be open on Sunday. The restaurant next door was closed but it too will be open on Sunday, with pre-booking, social distancing etc. Unfortuna...

Re: RT written off....

Pete, That sounds like a horrific experience ! Glad you're on the mend. As for a replacement bike, my personal experience has led me to believe that the "end of run" models are less troublesome than the first versions of the new model. That would lead me to look more kindly on a well-spec'd,...

Re: Sammy Miller Museum

YHA site in the New Forest has cabins. May be a bit cosier. I wish I'd known about it last year!!!!

I would choose one of those cabins over a tent every time - thanks !

Re: Sammy Miller Museum

Well, that does sound a little complicated. The calendar shows the visit to Sammy Miller Museum on 4th October from 12:00 to 13:00 - is that what you have in mind ? Hampshire would be a very long day ride - nine hours in the saddle for me. A stop-over at six or seven hours would mean two or t...

Hi Gordon,
Do you fancy a ride way down south to the Sammy Miller Museum on 4th October if they let us out to play?

by Ruralman » Tue Jun 16, 2020 6:56 pm "Hi Gordon, Do you fancy a ride way down south to the Sammy Miller Museum on 4th October if they let us out to play? Re: F900RT

I tried a 900XR. The screen is awful. Well, for me anyway. Noisy. Two positions. The Chinese engine didn't appear to have 100 hp. Seemed a bit flat. I think the tank is 19 litres. I tried a Triumph 900 Tiger. Screen good, the engine seemed a bit tough, as it has a strange crankshaft setup. Got on m...

Re: F900RT

The MT09 would certainly tick the box by being lighter, but I like to tour around Europe for two or three weeks at a time, so a little more weather protection, tank range and luggage capacity would be desirable. Maybe a Tracer.

Re: MOT extension - a word of warning...

OK, I'll bite. What's wrong with driving in the middle of the road if there is no other traffic? I will always drive in the middle of the road if there is no other traffic particularly at night and in town centres. That way you have more time to react to lower order animals that jump out such as de...

F900RT

. At times during this lockdown I have found myself wondering if I shouldn't replace my R1200RT with something lighter and more manageable. I'm of an age when most people are thinking about giving up motorcycling but I'm not quite ready for that yet. Riding my RT is no problem, but I find pushing i...

A quick look in eBay shows seven low seats (in UK) which should fit.

Re: R1200RT....seat

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your RT. They are superb bikes but not the lowest bikes around. There are low seats available, a search of eBay may throw something up. If I remember correctly, my 2010 RT had ESA and I was able to select "soft" damping and "one helmet" preload (for solo riding...
