Re: I have to ask

I had no prejudices prior to the emergence of covid.
I would just use simple common sense .....
.
The problem I find with common sense is that it doesn't seem to be very common ..... and many of the issues to which it is applied are far from simple.

Re: Warning, going faster than 30 causes Corona virus

I once had to drive my sister to hospital and every bump caused her pain. That meant never being less than 10mph under any speed limit. Having a queue build up behind me was a new experience and helped me realise that we're all different and have different things going on in our lives. I try to be a...

Re: Possible Trip to Costa Brava, Northern Spain.

The strongest memory I have on that crossing is the amount of vomit that my body could produce having not eaten much. I think everyone had the same memory, it was washing about the decks like water. Mind you it did take my mind off the fact that the car I had gone to buy was perched on the tailgate...

Re: Possible Trip to Costa Brava, Northern Spain.

a ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge can work out almost as cost effective as the Channel Tunnel. ..... . Not any more - it's sailed its final crossing last week, the end of an era! Pete [/quote] . I have to confess, it's a few years since I've taken the ferry from Hull. In recent years I've gone N...

Re: Possible Trip to Costa Brava, Northern Spain.

..... I have been exploring the ferry possibilities and found the cheapest option was Portsmouth to Bilbao outward and Santander to Plymouth return, with 2 bikes and 4 sharing a cabin came to about £1050, and that may be a hard sell to my fellow travellers! ..... . The ferries always look expensive...

Re: Rear wheel tyre valve

Smurf1664 : Going back to your issue with the tyre valve, a friend of mine had something similar with his R1200RT. Trying to get a garage airline on, he managed to snap the valve (it was metal rather than rubber) - catastrophe ! It seems that both these issues could have been avoided by using a 90 ...

Re: Northern Meet in Moffat this Sunday 25th October 2020

I had a great day out yesterday ! Got to the Rumblin Tum after 120 running-in miles. Had a nice apple pie and a coffee. Spoke with two other forum members (see attached team photo) and rode home via St Mary's Loch, trying to keep up with an old boxer. That was fun. The F900XR is growing on me - it's...

Re: Northern Meet in Moffat this Sunday 25th October 2020

I won’t make it tomorrow, as like Keith, I’m in the central belt (Ayrshire) and are not supposed to travel. Also the weather doesn’t look very good, for those that do make it, enjoy. Hopefully I’ll get to meet you all next year. . Sorry I won't get to meet you tomorrow, looks like I will be there o...

Re: Northern Meet in Moffat this Sunday 25th October 2020

I'm hoping to be riding my new BMW F900XR to Moffat tomorrow. I say hoping because the arrival of the new bike has coincided with pains, which my doctor suspects are due to a kidney stone - mostly just uncomfortable, but occasionally quite debilitating. I'll also be avoiding motorway due to running-...

Re: Cafe racer

I would argue that the original cafe racers paid homage to the racing bikes of the sixties. Visual clues were dropped or ‘clip-on’ handlebars, an alloy or fibreglass tank modelled on a Manx Norton or BSA Gold star racing tank, rear set footrests, swept-back exhaust pies with Gold Star type or megap...

Re: Northern Meet at Trossachs Pier this Sunday 11th October 2020

. My brother Norman and I rode to Loch Katrine on two loan bikes, a R1250RS for me and a R nine T for Norman. Our own bikes would have been better, but let's not look gift horses ..... etc - they're both excellent bikes if they suit your needs. A very pleasant ride there, some of it in common with ...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if things don't work that is a little less subjective.
Reducing performance, braking, handling and comfort just doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Northern Meet at Trossachs Pier this Sunday 11th October 2020

. My new bike still hasn't made an appearance. It's a long story, but the next episode begins on Friday, when I take the RT in to the dealer, and pick up a loan bike - probably a R1250RS, which I'll have until my F900XR turns up. I intended to have a run to Loch Katrine on Sunday and I still want t...

. We did talk about Ced yesterday - he was always a stalwart of these meets and he's missed. Let's hope he, and wife Irene, are well. My ride down to Biggar was in gloriously sunny and calm weather, with temperatures ranging from 5C into double figures (just !). The Aroma cafe was set up with a lit...

My new bike is due to arrive next week, so I will be having a last decent run on the RT on Sunday.

I will be going to the Aroma Cafe in Biggar. If I have to sit on my own or with one other person, then so be it.

Hoping to see a familiar face, if only from a distance.

Re: Sammy Miller Museum

Sorry to hear our trip has been cancelled. However, I would probably have had to cancel too. My new bike is due to be delivered around then and I wouldn't have wanted to make a trip like that while running in a new bike. Conversely, I wouldn't want to put all those miles on the RT immediately before...
