Rear Brake Bush fitting

Postby jtreg » Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:26 pm

Hello there,
Going through my R80RT (1983) as it has been laid up for over a year...

I changed the rear brake switch as it had failed. The problem now is the rear brake is really sloppy and will not line up accurately (on and off) and I found the read brake pivot bush is completely worn. I am reluctant to use heat on the frame to remove it and fit the new one. Any tips on fitting the new one? It should arrive next week hopefully.
Anyone done this little job?

Cheers
James

Happy to report that with the correct pinpunch (big un) , Plus Gas and some hot air gun it drifted out. I was a bit reluctant to mess up the fram but its OK. I will freeze the new bush before putting it in. - Anything anyone would like to add?

Motobins supplied the OEM part - sadly it was too large inner diameter - returned and I scratched my head a bit then measured the bolt and outer diameter etc and hit the interwebs. Bless the company http://www.getyourbearings.co.uk/ - they emailed me to say the £1.32 part was on its way... (Hint: try them for consumables before the 'usual' channels'!)

Signing off but not out
