R100R faring or change the bike???

Postby spike589715 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 7:50 pm

Hi all I have a R100R with an after market faring, just a screen really
I would really like to would be a full faring like the R100 RT have
Is it possible / sensible to fit one? Where would I get one? Or more economic to change / swap the bike ?
Anyone who interested in a swap?

Hi Simon,

Your post should be in the Airheads Section for best response - hopefully a Moderator will move it?

If your bike is running well and you are attached to it then think twice about changing it for something unknown.

While a full RT fairing gives pretty good weather protection, it can be a bit of a pain for doing DIY work on the bike.

Perhaps all you really need is a decent screen to keep the worst of the weather off.

The airhead guys here will be able to advise you re changing to an RT fairing or a more suitable screen.

Hi Simon
Where are you based?

I have a full Sprint fairing (see here http://cjdeng.co.uk/R100R_SPRINT.html ) I could be tempted to sell you.

I bought it cos like you I fancied a bit more weather protection on my R100R BUT then bought a K75 before I fitted it.

Email me if you want to progress this idea cos I will not be on line nuch for a few days after tonight (I am going to a place which only just has internet connectivity)

Hi Simon

Bear in mind that a full RT fairing does weigh a bit and will reduce top end speed and acceleration.

They are not too difficult to fit but they do require some minor wiring mods to lights and indicators.

The original BMW RT fairing are getting more scarce but they do come up on eBay occasionally and probably Motorworks may be able to help you as well but the complete kit could prove expensive.

I hope this helps
