Ignition switch replacement

Postby bordersboy » Wed Sep 30, 2015 4:03 pm

Hello all
I have a 1973 BMWR50 hybrid (US engine, German chassis and more...) that has had the ignition switch removed and replaced badly. I have sourced an R45 barrel switch that fits the hole cut in the headlamp shell. I found a blog on how to fit this some months ago but cannot find it again. Question is has anyone done this and if so have they any instructions..... Don't want to start messing around in the rats nest without some help

How many positions does the Ignition Switch have INCLUDING the 'Off' position?

Do you have a separate Lighting Switch 'Off/Side/Main' to control the Sidelights and Headlamp PLUS a Headlamp 'Flash/Dip/Main' Switch?

What colour are the wires which went to your ORIGINAL Ignition Switch?
