F800GT Headlight Bulb

Postby Ayrman800 » Sun Jul 11, 2021 7:49 pm

Hi Guys,

I had read previously that the GT is notorious for going through headlight bulbs, due to the vibration.

I fitted a brand new bulb just prior to going away on a trip, five minutes from home on the way back, the warning light and lamp failure warning came on! I had only done 2500 miles!

Is this as good as it gets, do I need to carry a box of bulbs every time I go away?

Was thinking of replacing it with an LED bulb, but something tells me that they are not legal. If they are, what is the best one?
Cheers Stuart.

You say the bulb you fitted was brand new, but you don't say what kind of bulb ...... High power bulbs generally have shorter lives than OE, so another standard bulb might be worth a try.

Another option might be an auxilliary light or lights for if / when the headlight bulb fails.

Cheers, it was a brighter Halfords motorcycle bulb.
I do have auxiliary lights fitted, but when the bulb goes you have the warning triangle and lamp warning, which you can’t clear until you replace the bulb.
Cheers Stuart.
