This smacks of cost cutting by saving Police time. Just another layer in the speeders arsenal and a diluting of any deterrent.
You are allowed 12 points then a ban. How many chances do people want?

Just like the olden days, when decent cops would give you a bit of leeway, provided you weren't taking the piss.
When I was a young rider I got pulled over and laid into by a bike cop for riding like a tit.
That did me the world of good.
He let me go with a producer.
I owe him a lot, and attribute the fact that afterwards I started to mature as a rider, solely due to that bollocking.
Of course it wouldn't work with everyone, especially if they're pre disposed to being a gob shite, but on the whole I'm fully in favour of more police on the roads, educating bad drivers / riders.
Cameras just create resentment.

Fully agree.
Unfortunately education doesn't pay off short term. Enforcement does. And it's getting even cheaper to enforce with modern technologies, as the government doesn't need to pay for labor.
