....For your R1100RT, is there a need for an OBD Scan and the Motoscan App? I'm not sure which one to buy for the K18.

I am not familiar with the Motoscan App.

I think that your 2017 bike may be OBD2 compliant.

The best scanning tool in my opinion is the HexCode GS911 scanner.

My R1100RT does not have an intelligent enough Engine Control Unit (ECU) to provide sufficient Fault Code data to make it worthwhile buying a GS911 so I use a cheap Fault Code Reader instead.

If you go to the 'HexCode' website you will get all the info about the GS911 and if it is suitable for your bike.

https://www.hexcode.co.za/

The are a number of variations of the GS911 so you also need to choose which one is suitanle for you assuming your bike is one of the models it can work with.

You really only need to scan your bike if there is a problem with it although the GS911 can also assist in carrying out maintenance functions for some models.

Ya GS911 is very popular. But there's wide price range BTW different OBDs, the green OBDLink is cheapest. All needs connection with PC or mobile apps! Image

Looking at the bulb box for the new bulb it says 30% brighter even though it also states something about OEM. That could be where the can-bus senses the difference as to make it 30% brighter that has to come from somewhere?
It’s just modern technology that we really don’t want or need and it’s become one of my pet hates also in the last decade. I also run a modern Triumph Bonneville which has the same stupid system and won’t let the starter engage unless you have to sing to the bike and tickle its ears!!

So you have to go to the dealer for even trivial things Image
