Zebedee was right! It is late.
In brief i have been involved with motor cycles ever since my eldest brother sat me on the tank of his bike when i was two years old. Thirteen years later he gave me two tea chests full of parts and said it is yours if you can build it. That was a 1951 Douglas Mk 5 350cc. A lovely machine . That began my hobby and motor cycling pastime. Now at 63 i am still having fun with the bikes and making good friends in the motor cycling world.

Tonight i was just researching some BMW facts. I saw this forum and so decided to have a look and see just what your club is all about.
I am working on a BMW R 80 st. It started out as a quick fix it and ride it project. Then if i liked it i would pull it to pieces and make a nice job of it.
Once on the bench i discovered that the odd rust spot was in fact much worse than i thought. Also there were a few bits and pieces missing.
I did hear a rumour tha the BMW accountants took to spraying the factory bikes in the eighties.
Now i know this is true!
Got to turn in for the night.
Happy building and riding. Gerry

Welcom aboard... I hope you're having fun with the project... otherwise there's little point.

Don't know how up to speed you are with the vagueries of the 'airhead' marque but it's worth bearing in mind that the 'R80st is more closely descended from the R80GS than the other R80 road bikes... useful to know when sourcing spares.

Plenty of advice and help to be had on the 'airhead tech forum'... some of it is even good

Look forward to reading about your project.

Rob

Hi
welcome, the ST is highly thought of, where in the UK are you? How long have you had the ST? I take it you like it since you have started to pull it apart?
