Wide seat

Postby RogueAssassin » Thu Sep 13, 2018 12:00 am

So basically I'm slowly getting used to the height and weight of the bmw f800gs. One thing I want to change is the seat.

I have the low seat fitted which would be perfect if it wasn't so wide.

My poor legs don't like being that far apart for so long.

Is there a fit fix to this?

I would much rather solve the seat issue rather than spend loads of money lowering the suspension.

Touratech mention that the original seat is wide, but they don’t say if theirs is narrower:

I’m still not use to the height, even though I’ve ridden off road. Then again XR400s, CRF450s and DRZs are narrower, lighter and I don’t think any taller.

I can ride, so control not an issue, just that I park on a lump and by gravel at work and also use mainstand - I’m not giving in!

Best roads: 623 Burgos to Santander. A back road to Metz; can't remember which!

Sold my Airheads, what an idiot, but Honda is also great.
Too many bikes have come and gone, trying to be sensible now!

Hmmm.

Would have been nice for them to include that bit of information.

I'm debating on whether to attack my seat with a knife.
Damn you all with wide asses. Mine just is too small.

Any good seat upholsterer will be able to re-sculpt the seat to suit you. I've used Seatworks at Wyke (Bradford) on a few occasions over the years. Damon will alter your seat to suit your weight, height etc.
