Top yoke back frm the machine shop - exactly the look I was after - uncluttered. I'll get the front end painted ready for the front end swap when the Fighter comes out of storage after Christmas.

Thanx George ........... seeing that pic in it's entirety has reminded me that the bottom yoke is a different configuration and doesn't have the duplicated set of instrument pod mounts as the K100. :-"

I'll remember to attend to that before the painting !!

New year - new effort ................. =D>

Mrs.B decided we should have a log store at the side of the house to make use of the side entry [ 7' wide ].

After building a lean to type structure with plastic roofing panels - and with the boundary fence forming a half decent wall, I thought hmmmm - workshop space ! So a smaller log store has been formed at the end of the lean to, leaving me almost 25' x 7' of useful workspace !

Now in the great scheme of things no big deal, but with my sorely overcrowded garage [ at the rear of the house ] that space now means I have room for workbenches, machinery, electric, heating............. bliss.

That now gives [ will give me when the electrics are finished ] a suitable area for sub- assembly, painting, detailing, etc.

Hi
Ced You're in Heaven!
sent by a tidy man who has a large, neat garage and decent workshop as well.

Now mine, owned by a messy bloke, Full of Junk, 3 bikes, across the yard, some bicycles, in need of rewiring and new lights, needs a coat of looking at. I will when it gets warm

Ha ha George.............. it's taken me over 70 years to finally get a proper garage 'facility'!

You might be interested to know that I can now get the R1100RT into the nicer 'inner' garage after removing the mirror pods.

The bike's now in bits and getting its first decent overhaul since 1996 - Heaven must be like this!

Still bl**dy cold though!

Thanx Ced / George ........ reminding me I still have a way to go.

My major problem is that throughout my business life [ 45 years ] of manufacturing various Replica Cars, Race Cars and involvement with the US Speed Equipment business - I have always had access to large workshop spaces for my own personal use [ 8000 sq.ft at the peak ] - and a very skilled workforce.

My last business endeavor was working out of a fairly modest 2500 square foot facility, with 1000 sq.ft. of outside secure storage. When that all came to an end in 2000 ...... I suddenly found myself reduced to 2 small lock up garages. I never recovered fully as everything was crammed into that available space ! Until now ............

Ahhhhhhhh the weather. Well, when I get the ends of the lean to sealed [ 'ish ] I can contemplate some sort of heating. As we DO have a log store adjacent - I guess a pot belly stove is in order !

Hi TJ
I know what you mean, most of the last 15 years of my working life if I wanted electronic components or workshop space i just asked and it was provided, now I dont work find a SINGLE small item is a pain, no problem if I want to buy 100, But ONE...

I intend to make a covered area, much more flimsy than yours. I have told my wife it will give us extra drying space for the washing, House wall one side, Concrete fence on the other. I just missed a decent roller shutter last week, it was still there but the side rails had been skipped, that would have been great for the front end.

Is the place you are building the new workshop in the UK or Germany?

The lean to . wood shed [tee, hee ] is here in the UK.

Germany ...... if only !!! There are TWO workshop garages [ 40' x 30' ] another smaller garage - a space 100' x 10' which used to be the "kegglebahn" [ village one lane bowling alley ].

There's also a large ground floor complex at one end of the building that used to be the operation for the meat prep / deli. The very first day I saw it - I thought ......WORKSHOP.

Our log store there is actually larger than my lock up garage here in the UK !

This is what greets you if you go towards the end of the Summer !!!! 6 hours later and it's like an English country garden - well almost.

Image

The main garage / workshop - now if only that was here !

Image

Part of the deli complex [ 6 rooms + a 10' x 8' walk in freezer room ] - which I thought ... workshop.

Wow! Lots of space there in Germany TJ!

Why not rent out some of the rooms to bike enthusiasts for maintenance/overhaul purposes or even to local craft industries. You could even stipulate that they keep the grass cut!

We had big plans when I bought the place 9 years ago ......... but then my Daughters decided they wanted to do additional degrees ! That meant we had to put our plans on hold to move out there for most of the year / permanently.

Youngest Daughter has finally finished her second degree and Masters last year - leaving it all a bit too late for us [ 3 score and ten ].

We've had some fantastic annual Pig Roasts out there with pals from the Flying Brick and other clubs.

At one stage our plans included a bargain basement B&B for bikers - sort of indoor camping ! Ah well ... kids are more important I guess. :-({|=

We have to content ourselves with getting out tehre as often as possible - ie when RyanAir has bargain flights !

Arrival of one of the 2 x Pigs we had this particular year

Image

The crew getting the garden sorted !

Image

Biker pals in the local village ice cream parlour [ Italian ! ]

Image

Our favourite part of the house - the Beer Terrace !

Image

Much like the Queen - we fly our flags when we are in residence !!!

The pics are great TJ - looks like a lot of fun! =D>

I like the idea of 'bargain basement B&B for bikers - sort of indoor camping !'

Nice to see the Scottish flag flying!

I'm around the same age as you and also have daughters - bless them. 8-[

I am sure many here would be interested in having a base for camping and touring the area if you were there and had that up and running. One of the big attractions is that one of the rooms could offer bike repair facilities if required.

You're right though - getting the kids sorted out is the priority - it's important that they get good well-paid jobs as they are the ones that choose your Care Home!

Due to life changing circumstances :-({|= :-({|= I am having to abandon various car and motorcyle projects.

I am offering them first to forum / club members as the builds have been well documented with pictures.

ALL are to be termed “projects” to be completed. Most parts have been bought new where required or refurbished. ALL will require some smaller parts to complete.

This is a deeply regrettable situation as these projects have been my ongoing passion for the past 4-5 years.

BMW K100 Streetfighter – unique bodywork 98% complete

Yamaha TR1 1960’s style Café Racer. Most parts prepped, renewed ready for assembly. Includes very expensive Grimeca 4LS front brake / hub, alloy rims and stainless spokes [ 2 x wheels - all new ]

1955 Standard Vanguard Estate – restore or Hot Rod

I will list the bikes / cars separately, but of specific interest here is the following – see the related build thread and pix for details.

All will be open to sensible offers – failing that they’ll go on E-Bay.

I'll post this in "For Sale" as well to save confusion.

I've also got loads of useful spares - 4- 5 frames [ some wlb ], forks, wheels, engines [ inc low mileage 16V bottom end ], etc.,etc

Update - major assessment coming up in July for my issue [ CKD - Chronic Kidney Disease ]. Sounds apocalyptic, but it's a catch-all term for degeneration of kidney function. Started 6 years ago due to being prescribed a particular medication for 9 months, when it shauld have been 3 ! Pretty well stabilised for most of the time since, but decline set in again at Christmas. Now at stage 3 of 5. The tests in July will hopefully tell me that the decline has been arrested at 3 'ish.

Even with that the side effects of the condition and meds are severe tiredness. lethargy and a general lack of energy - and other more trivial but irritating effects.

That now means I have to clear all my existing projects, spares etc.

I would prefer to see them go in a job lot [ less painful that way ! ].

Any interest ?

Also some Airhead spares.

Hi
sad news. I am losing confidence in the NHS myself, everyone seems they want to do a good job but have limited time and resources together with a detached attitude to patients.

gentlemen,

I thank you for your kind words ............ the interim [ April ] tests were quite encouraging, but by no means as exhaustive as the upcoming one in July.

Brian - haven't forgotton, will check at the workshop this weekend.
